Red, White and Blue Berry Parfaits

A colorful patriotic parfait created by layering fresh strawberries and blueberries with vanilla pudding and edible sand.

Instructions

The amount of pudding used to create the layers will differ according to the height and width of the glass vessel.  The parfait glass used in the pictures are 5 1/2 inches tall and 1 1/2 inches in diameter.  If a shorter and wider glass is being used, the amount of pudding used to create the layer will need to be adjusted slightly.  Instead of using 2 tablespoons, adjust this amount to 3 or 4 tablespoons, creating 2 pudding layers.

  1. Create the first layer with sliced or chopped strawberries. 
  2. Top with 2 1/2 Tablespoons of vanilla pudding.
  3. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of edible sand over pudding.
  4. Place 1/4 cup of blueberries on top of the sand.
  5. Top with 2 1/2 Tablespoons of vanilla pudding.
  6. Lay another 1/4 cup of strawberries on top of vanilla pudding.
  7. Followed by another 2 1/2  tablespoons of vanilla pudding.
  8. The final layer of 1/4 cup blueberries are placed on top of the pudding.
  9. Use 1 teaspoon of edible sand to top off the parfait. 

Notes

If a shallower and wider parfait dish is being used, adjust the quantity of pudding accordingly.  Perhaps instead of 2 1/2 tablespoons, use 1/4 cup of pudding creating 2 layers rather than 4.
